CIMA presented our 9th annual Pre-Grammy® Showcase at the Raleigh Studios in Hollywood, Los Angeles on February 11, presented in partnership with the Consulate General of Canada in Los Angeles.

After a frantic last minute venue change, thanks to President Obama shutting down the entire street with a nearby event, the Canadian Grammy® Night: A Showcase and Celebration of Canadian Musical Excellence was moved to the Raleigh Studios (5300 Melrose Avenue).

With showcases from Grand Analog (Popguru Sound and Vision) and Julian Taylor Band (Aporia Records), as well as Grammy nominees CFCF (RVNG) and Alex Cuba (Caracol Records) this event was an excellent celebration of the 58th anniversary of the GRAMMY Awards® and a great way to highlight our fantastic Canadian musical talent to key industry and media representatives in Los Angeles. This event was exclusively an invitation-only affair of targeted music industry professionals, and featured over 300 attendees.

A sincere thank you to the Consul General of Canada Mr. James Villeneuve & Ms. Kim Walker and their team for their generosity in hosting this event as well as to Lisa Campanaro of Raleigh Studios and Jennifer Price for helping to make this our most successful Canadian Grammy® Night event to date.

CIMA's Storied History At The Grammy's®

CIMA's connection with The Grammy Awards® began in 2008, with the inaugural Canadian Showcase & Celebration of Canadian Music Excellence in celebration of the 50th anniversary of the Grammy® Awards. Held in Los Angeles in 2008, the purpose of this first celebration was to work alongside the Government of Canada to draw attention to Canada's involvement in the Grammy® Awards over the years, as well as use this opportunity to showcase emerging, export-ready Canadian musical talent to key industry professionals.

To this end and in respect of our mandate, CIMA is committed to showcasing only artists/bands who are represented by Canadian music companies.

Since 2008, we've been proud to have featured a wide and eclectic group of exciting, emerging Canadian artists in our Grammy® celebrations, including: Yukon Blonde, In-Flight Safety, Suzie MacNeil, Justin Nozuka, Pascale Picard, Jenn Grant, Plants & Animals, Shad, Dan Mangan, Hey Rosetta!, K'Naan, Matt Haimovitz and Eccello, Little ScreamYoung Empires, Melanie Fiona, Rich Aucoin, Gold & Youth, The Sheepdogs, Jarvis Church, Divine Brown, Snowblink, Diamond Rings, Delhi 2 Dublin, Groenland, Buck 65, and more.
