Highs @ 7pm: Formed in Toronto in late 2012, the band had its beginnings with a trio of bedroom demos created by guitarist Doug Haynes. These demos, with their driving afro-beat rhythms, guitar hooks and layered harmonies, provided the initial musical foundation for the band when it expanded into a five-piece.
Beliefs @8pm: Started in November 2010 when Josh Korody (BREEZE) and Jesse Crowe met at bassist Pat McCormack’s birthday party and bonded over their love of The Jesus and Marychain, Slowdive, and My Bloody Valentine.
Poor Young Things @9pm: You can try and find a gutsier, harder working bunch than Toronto’s Poor Young Things. But even if you succeed, it’s doubtful you’ll also find one as clearly positioned for greatness. After two years of endless touring following the release of their debut album, ‘The Heart. The Head. The End.’, the SiriusXM Emerging Artist of the Year Winners are preparing the release of their explosive new album in 2015.
Your Favorite Enemies @10pm: Your Favorite Enemies' distinctive blend of dirty and polished type of sonic textures, along with their introspective poetry and symbolist type of lyrical approach gathered fanatics from all different musical backgrounds into a defining communion of high level noise, post-punk, psych, shoegaze and prog rock.
In-Flight Safety @11pm: The band’s new album Conversationalist was built, literally and figuratively, on the backs of thousands of conversations between Mullane and Nicholson. Inspired by contemporary bands like Wild Nothing, The Walkmen and Diiv, In-Flight Safety created an album that is true to their history, but their most adventurous and honest."
Thursday, October 23rd
Astral Swans @7pm: Matthew Swann plays experimental folk music under the name, astral swans. He lives in Calgary, Alberta with a talking horse, constructed from malevolent atoms that eats straw.
Take Me To The Pilot @8pm: Take Me To The Pilot are a Canadian four-piece. They’ll tell you they're a rock band that plays pop music, and after seeing them live you'll agree.
We Were Lovers @9pm: We Were Lovers' dancey beats, swirling guitars, and dynamic synths convey a wide array of moods and themes, as strong female vocals wrap stories of love and loss around catchy melodies. Known for their high-energy live show, WWL have mastered a pop balance infusing electro, dreamy, rock and disco elements.
Wildlife @10pm: Their sophomore album, “On The Heart”, the band views as an essay, a love letter, a tribute to the heart itself.
JPNSGRLS @11pm: The band debuted The Sharkweek EP in 2013 on Light Organ Records. For their first LP, Circulation (July 2014), they teamed up with producer Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat, Mounties) and engineer Greg Calbi (Tame Impala, MGMT) and honed their live show touring with July Talk & Mounties.
