We're super excited to report that our Canada Invades Glasgow mission just kicked off an exciting 2-days of showcasing and B2B opportunities for 5 Canadian companies and 4 showcasing artists. We fully expect that this mission is just the beginning of an excellent relationship with the Scottish music industry where we can develop future business opportunities on both sides of the pond!

With the mission perfectly timed to take advantage of the hustle and bustle in Glasgow as the city gears up for the Commonwealth Games later in July, we partnered with our friends at the Scottish Music Industry association to put together some opportunities and exclusive showcasing opportunities for the CIMA member companies (and their showcasing artists) that came with us. The purpose of the mission is to build key connections between the Canadian mission participants and the Scottish labels, managers, promoters, festival, radio programmers and broader live community.

You can follow along with pictures from this mission on our Twitter account at @StuartCIMA, but here's a sneak peek of what a B2B dinner looks like (courtesy of @MusicNovaScotia's Twitter).

Who came along?

This mission has a delegation of 5 Canadian companies attending: CIMA, Tin Angel Records, Letting Artists Make Art (LAMA), Groundswell Music, and Music Nova Scotia.

They represent 4 showcasing artists who will be performing at one of 2 evening showcases either on July 8 (invite only) or July 9.

Preetam Sengupta: Preetam entered the Canadian singer/songwriter scene through the side door, having first helped other artists through his company, Letting Artists Make Art (LAMA). Bearing comparisons to Paul Simon, Preetam's style of melodic storytelling is hopeful and melancholic in equal measure. Ambre McLean: Ambre McLean defies categorization, her sound is intricate and ambitious, music to be listened to, and better yet live. Don’t bother naming it – just enjoy. (http://www.ambremclean.com/)

The Town Heroes: a 2-piece rock band from Halifax, Nova Scotia, The Town Heroes craft catchy, lyrical, hard-hitting anthemic songs that sound like a party you wish you were at. (http://www.thetownheroes.com/)

John Southworth: John Southworth is one of Canada’s most distinctive and revered music artists, respected for forging ahead with his own unique brand of music-making, while garnering high praise for his inimitable contribution.(http://johnsouthworthmusic.ca/)
