The Canadian Music Café: Submissions to showcase are being accepted until June 24!
June 10, 2014 – Toronto, ON – Returning for its sixth year this September, the Canadian Music Café capitalizes on the international attention placed on Toronto during the Festival to bring the very best in new Canadian music directly to the ears of film and TV music supervisors and the filmed media industry.
With alumni like City and Colour, Martha Wainright, Royal Wood, Chantal Kreviazuk, USS, Buck 65, The Trews, Lindi Ortega and Arkells, to name just a few, the Canadian Music Café has been a hub for rising Canadian talent, facilitating connections that lead to song placements in programs like Grey’s Anatomy, Degrassi, Castle, Ugly Betty, The L Word, and many more shows, films and commercials.
The 2014 edition of the Canadian Music Café will run during the daytime, September 8-9, at Jazz Bistro, just east of Yonge and Dundas Square, in the very heart of downtown Toronto. Canadian artists are encouraged to apply for showcase consideration at www.canadianmusiccafe.com. Applications can be submitted from June 10-24, 2014 and the 10 selected artists will be notified by the end of July.
Proceeds from the $25 submission fee will be donated to the Unison Benevolent Fund, and each performing act will be compensated $750 for their showcase.
The Canadian Music Café is a joint initiative produced by the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) and the Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA), whose mandates are to support, exploit and advocate for the Canadian independent music community and Canadian publishers, respectively. The CMPA and CIMA gratefully acknowledge that the 2014 Canadian Music Café is made possible with the support of the Ontario Media Development Corporation (OMDC).
