Music Export Canada Presents:

‘Canadian Blast’ at the Great Escape Festival 2017

A Showcase of Canada’s Finest Independent Musical Talent

May 18th – 20th at Canada House (The Green Door Store, Brighton)

Plus! ‘Canadian Night at the Museum’ May 18th

featuring reception and special performances, Brighton Museum

Canadian Blast is a weekend of live performances at The Great Escape festival, hosted by the Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) showcasing some of the finest players of Canada’s thriving independent music scene. In this celebratory year of Canada’s 150th Anniversary, the Canadian Blast promises to be its biggest ever with stirring shows from propelling artists that can’t be missed!

All acts have been carefully selected for their rising domestic popularity, media buzz and increasing interest from fans and industry alike. Last year’s Canadian Blast showcases at the Great Escape were hugely popular with packed crowds and queues stretching around the block. Many of the artists utilise their TGE appearance as a springboard into the UK and EU markets, where they’ll embark on tours and promotional trails.

Brighton’s esteemed Green Door Store venue will once again host Canadian Blast and be known as ‘Canada House’ over the full festival weekend. Always bringing exceptional, multi-genre musicianship and solid work ethic, past performers have gone on to sign record deals, tour the EU, perform at festivals, find UK management and gain coverage from UK music press due to their Canadian Blast showcases. Successful alumni include Ben Caplan, Ria Mae, Jenn Grant, Arkells and many others.

The Great Escape Festival is the UK’s premier new music showcase event, enabling artists to reach crowds of excited new music fans and giving their teams the opportunity to network with movers and shakers in the music industry. Here, organisations like CIMA, with key personnel from the Canadian music scene, can network with industry deal makers and gain introductions that provide routes into the all-important UK music market and beyond.

Canada has an exceptional reputation for supporting its arts, putting structures in place and presenting its cultural output to other territories. CIMA has spearheaded this by working with its Music Export Canada brand partners (Pop Montreal, MusicOntario/The Ontario Media Development Corporation, Music Nova Scotia and BreakOut West with Alberta Music, Music BC, Music Manitoba and SaskMusic), providing international export, showcase, b2b, networking and marketing opportunities to selected Canadian music companies and artists.

Altamedia / Bad Pop / Beliefs / DSG Samurai Champs / Hannah Georgas / Harrison Brome / Hello Moth /

John. K Samson / Like a Motorcycle / Mauno / Mo Kenney / Mozart's Sister / Pierre Kwenders / Poor Nameless Boy / Port Cities / Royal Tusk / The Avulsions / The Wooden Sky / William Prince
