CIMA Wraps Up the Los Angeles Synch Mission to Peak TV
Following the success of the 2015 Pilot Synch Mission to Los Angeles, CIMA returned to the City of Angels with a Canadian delegation of 11 companies for the Synch Mission to Peak TV. This private mission, which ran from January 23-26, included 3-days of business events which ranged from networking sessions to two-on-two meetings to spotting sessions and more.
To better prepare our delegation heading down to Los Angeles for this business mission, CIMA put together a Synch Report; a 100-page guide to synch opportunities in US television with a focus on LA.
The mission kicked off on Monday evening with an orientation and networking dinner with the head of NBC Universal Music. On Tuesday morning, things got underway with morning panels and pitch sessions with executives from Los Angeles Music & Television. A networking lunch was held directly after the morning sessions, before things continued into the afternoon with pitch sessions alongside music supervisors who specialized in streaming video on demand.
On Wednesday, our delegation got to experience something a little bit different when they visited the offices of Hit the Ground Running to participate in a spotting session. This educational session broke down the processes of how songs are chosen with examples of tracks that made the final cut and those that didn’t.
The afternoon wrapped up with a networking lunch with the entire team from Neophonic, a long-standing music supervision house in Los Angeles. Our delegates received first hand information on what Neophonic looks for and what they’re working on, with each delegate getting the chance to enter their music information into the company’s database for future collaborative opportunities.
The mission ended with a networking dinner hosted at the Canadian Consulate, which once again matched our mission’s delegates with key players in the Los Angeles music, television and film industry. Overall our Canadian delegates got the chance to network and do business with 27 members of the television, synch and music supervision businesses in Los Angeles.
