Alma Records - Peter Cardinali
Peter Cardinali has been involved in the music industry for almost fifty years as a bass player, arranger, composer and producer. His long list of credits include Anne Murray, Michael Buble, Ray Charles, Michael McDonald, Negramaro, Nelly Furtado, Don Was, Alex Lifeson, B.B. King, etc., and his years of work with the Motown record label produced many hits for the likes of Rick James and Teena Marie, to name a few, and earned him the widespread recognition of his peers. He started Alma Records, an independent “music first” label, and its publishing arm, Cardster Music Co. in 1991, and has had success with Grammy and multiple Juno award winning artists on the roster like The Boomers, Myriad3, Hilario Duran, Monkey House, Ian Thomas, Steve Gadd, Joey DeFrancesco, Division Kent, Amabutho, Michael Kaeshammer, Puentes Brothers and more.

Arts & Crafts - Marcello Favia Marcello Favia, Publishing and Licensing Manager at Arts & Crafts, has been working in various roles within the music industry for over 10 years. After studying both Film & Television Production and Recording Arts Management, Marcello spent some time at V2 Records and Sony/BMG before moving to Arts & Crafts in 2006. During his time at A&C, Marcello has worked on the marketing and distribution teams, and in 2010 he lead the formation and development of the publishing division, Arts & Crafts Music. Marcello has the pleasure of representing the work of many great artists and songwriters, including Broken Social Scene, Timber Timbre, Cold Specks, Dan Mangan, River Tiber, and Charlotte Day Wilson. Marcello is also on the Board of Directors for the Canadian Music Publishers Association (CMPA).

Cadence Music Group - Rich Brisson Rich Brisson is an accomplished sync & licensing veteran having worked as lead music supervisor for 6+ years at the award winning audio post house The Eggplant Collective. After successfully working on over 300 commercial spots, Rich moved over to the label side to help develop new sync licensing opportunities for one of Canada’s leading full service independent record labels, Cadence Music Group.

Full Chisel Music Publishing - Doug Taylor Doug Taylor is co-founder of Full Chisel Music Publishing, along with Ian McKinnon, owner of GroundSwell Music. Doug founded Codapop Recording Studios in 2007 and formed an alliance with Ian’s management/record company GroundSwell in 2015. Having observed a gap in the music publishing industry in Atlantic Canada, they seized the opportunity to establish Full Chisel. The initial catalog is formed primarily of music by GroundSwell artists. The company is in the process of signing additional songwriting clients to the Full Chisel roster. The company also enjoys the capability of developing new music in a timely fashion, utilizing a stable of established songwriters and musicians using our onsite Codapop Studios. Songs from the Full Chisel Music Publishing catalogue have been featured in dozens of commercials, TV shows and movies in the US, Canada and Europe.

Hyvetown Music - Patrick Zulinov Patrick Zulinov has been a contributing member of the Vancouver music community for over 25 years, managing Promotions, Publicity and Artist Relations at Sony Music (for 15 years) in addition to Music and Program Direction in Triple A radio. Patrick now explores sync placement and licensing opportunities in TV, film, gaming and advertising for artists at Hyvetown Music Publishing. He’s also very involved in raising funds and awareness for music therapy programs and facilities in BC, founding and organizing the annual “Music Therapy Ride” celebrity motorcycle event from Vancouver to Whistler, and sitting on the Board of Directors for the Music Heals Charitable Foundation.

Outside Music - Evan Newman Evan Newman, formerly the head of A&R for V2 Records Canada where he worked closely with The White Stripes, Elbow, Moby, Grandaddy and Mercury Rev, joined Outside as the managing director 7 years ago and helped develop the company into a global entity. A voracious reader, with a horrible jump shot, a weak backhand, he spends his downtime with his 3 year old son eating unhealthy amounts of marzipan. |

Pipe & Hat Music Group - Elise Roller Since 2013, Roller has been part of the award-winning team at Pipe & Hat Music Group. While contributing to the development of PHMG’s entire roster, Roller heads artist and community development branch, Flint/Fire, managing Calgary psych-rock band Fever Feel, and programming Pride Winnipeg’s festival main stage. She is also responsible for kick-starting the career of rapper Transit22 and, for the past six years, has booked and tour managed a number of Canadian acts.

Red Brick Songs - Amy Eligh AMY ELIGH is the Director of Sync & Creative Services at Red Brick Songs and Casablanca Media. Amy started in the copyright and royalties department before moving into Creative. Amy pitches songs for film and TV; organizes showcases for TV networks, music supervisors, and advertisers; develops new writers; arranges co-writing sessions; coordinates writing camps and scouts for talent. Amy has secured sync placements on Shades of Blue, Roadies, Lucifer, Heartbeat, Grey’s Anatomy, Equals (feature film), Extant, Degrassi: The Next Generation, Bose, Sunkist and many others. The Red Brick roster includes US bands Psychic Twin, Camp Counselors, EXROYALE and Field Mouse as well as Canadian bands Fast Romantics, Said The Whale, Folly & The Hunter, STACEY, Teen Daze, producer Nygel Asselin (Half Moon Run) and The RAA (and many more).

Six Shooter Records - Kim Temple As Head of Licensing & Publishing at Six Shooter Records, Kim Temple pursues sync license opportunities for Six Shooter’s publishing and label rosters. She also creates new opportunities for clients in the world of songwriting collaborations out of the label’s Nashville office. With 20+ years of experience in Canada’s music industry her varied background includes touring internationally as a professional drummer, as well as managing international royalty collections for artists, film & TV composers, and publishers. She is a Juno-nominated musician.

Sonic Unyon - Tim Potocic
Tim Potocic is co-owner and president of 23-year old Sonic Unyon Records in Hamilton, including in-house labels Sonic Unyon records, Sonic Unyon Metal and Goodfellow Records. Potocic has sat on the boards of CIRPA and CARAS and has enjoyed a Canadian Music Industry Award for label of the year, a Hamilton Entrepreneur of the Year award, and having several of his artists acquire Juno nominations. Potocic currently sits on the boards of the CIMA “ Canadian Independent Music association”, and FACTOR “ Foundation to Assist Canadian Talent on Record”. Sonic Unyon has grown into one of Canada’s leading independent record companies releasing over 170 new recordings by a wide variety of acts such as Aereogramme, Augury, A Northern Chorus, Change of Heart, Cursed, Dinner Belles, Hayden, Oh Suzanna, Suicidal Angels, Ringo DeathStarr, Sacrifice, Sianspheric, Spirits, Simply Saucer, Steve Strongman, Treble Charger, Terra Lightfoot , Teenagehead , Tristan Psionic, Tricky Woo, Young Rival, Frank Black & the Catholics, and Voivod. In 2009/10 Sonic Unyon have also expanded into the Live Music business with Tim Potocic as the Supercrawl festivals lead organizer. The passed year Supercrawl attendance 2016 grew to over 200,000. Supercrawl has won Tourism “festival of the year” awards 3 years straight with multiple awards in 2012 including Entertainment ambassador of the year 2011 - Tim Potocic and in 2015 – Tourism Event of the Year ( TIAO) . 2016/17 proves to be an other expansion year as Sonic Unyon continues its foray into the Live music business. Currently, Sonic Unyon has opened its first venue - Mills Hardware @ 95 King St E. In 2015-16 Sonic Unyon will be focusing on the events side of the business with Supercrawl expansions, Because Beer, Festival of Friends, Seven Sundays concert series and some new event properties being developed to launch in 2017/18. Among running successful Music operations Tim has also been involved in property redevelopment and management in downtown Hamilton with the purchase of the first property in 1996. The partners in Sonic Unyon have acquired and currently operate and manage 14 additional properties in the James St N area with over 200,000 sq ft under their care.

Stomp Records/Union Label Group - Mike Magee Mike Magee (Co-Owner/VP) is a good-time-Charlie with close to 25 years of mismatched experience in the music industry. From playing in various East Coast punk bands and hosting radio shows on CKDU Halifax as a teenager, he moved to Montreal to work stacking boxes in the Cargo Records freight elevator before sliding into a national marketing and advertising role. After Cargo, Mike worked freelance PR and design for a bunch of companies like Epitaph and Warner before joining up with his friends at Stomp shortly after they opened their doors. Since then, Mike’s been a tireless advocate for independent musicians, especially in the punk, ska, rockabilly scenes. Mike prides himself on his DIY ethic, always putting bands first by creating an alternative business model that favours the artist first. Douchee industry highlights include managing Walk Off The Earth’s early career (signing to Columbia Recs, seeing multiple Juno noms and a single that hit #1 at US A/C radio), winning a Juno award with Bedouin Soundclash, being presented a platinum disc for their Stomp released “Sounding A Mosaic and running a Stomp Recs label stage on the Vans Warped Tour for a few years. Personal highlights include getting to work with rad bands everyday, travelling with Stomp buds and doing fun new shit all the time. |
