On May 3, the Western Canadian Music Alliance and BreakOut West announced nominations for this year’s Western Canadian Music Awards. Now in its 14th year, many participants in the 2016 WCMAs will be musicians who CIMA is specifically proud to support!

On May 4, meanwhile, the 16th edition of the Canadian INDIE Awards took place at the Phoenix Concert Theatre during Canadian Music Week in Toronto. Supported by CIND-FM and the Ontario Media Development Corporation, the show was hosted by Indie88 radio personality Raina Douris. Several bands also performed, including Alberta Cross, the Strumbellas, Wintersleep and the Zolas.

Based on votes from the public as well as the music industry, the following CIMA-family artists picked up INDIE Award honours – which came in the form of guitars provided by Epiphone and Long & McQuade Instruments:
