CIMA Welcomes The Honourable Melanie Joly As The New Minister of Canadian Heritage

The Canadian Independent Music Association (CIMA) extends a warm welcome and congratulations to Canada's new Minister of Canadian Heritage, the Honourable Melanie Joly. On behalf of CIMA's national membership, we look forward to engaging with the new Minister and her staff on issues of key importance to Canada's domestic-owned music sector. Through consultation and with support from the Honourable Melanie Joly, the Department of Canadian Heritage as well as the federal government more broadly, CIMA will continue to advocate for the strengthening of Canada's domestic-owned music industry, support Canadian artists and grow the economy.
The Honourable Melanie Joly, was elected, for the Liberal Party of Canada, in the Montreal-area riding of Ahuntsic-Cartierville. With a professional background in both law and communications, Joly is a former Arnold Edinborough Award Winner, and member of several philanthropic and arts boards - including Business for the Arts, the Montreal Museum of Contemporary Art (MACM), the Bach Festival and more.
