Canada House Returns to New Skool Rules 2023
Canada will be returning to New Skool Rules in Rotterdam this May – and we’re bringing along a fresh crop of incredible Canadian artists and companies to showcase, do business and network!
New Skool is the biggest conference and festival for Hip Hop, Rap, R&B, Reggae, and Soul in the world, so CIMA, MusicOntario and Women in Music Canada have joined forces to build a comprehensive experience for Canadians ready to export to the EU.
Join us on Sunday, May 14 at Worm (Boomgaardsstraat 71, 3012 XA Rotterdam) for a full evening of all things Canadian! We’re kicking things off with a Meet the Canadians networking reception from 6:30PM-7:00PM. Stick around right after for the Canada House showcase featuring 9 incredible acts from across the country.

With a name like Private name Private number provides instant mystery, intrigue and engagement. Private is best known for his high energy performance and catchy songs. Hes been making noise in Canada and wants to show the world his gift.
Tea Fannie
Hello, Bonjour! Tea Fannie doesn’t actually speak french but she is Canadian to the fullest. Her name may be complicated to spell but she says to take it up with her mother. This Alberta rapper started off her music career in Edmonton and moved around a lot (her father served). 4 provinces, 9 cities but she calls Calgary home! She grew up listening to Kenny Rogers and Whitney Houston, no typo, and by the time she was old enough to choose her own ear vibes she was into Green Day and Nas. Her music style reflects that in a random way especially because she listens to music for lyrical content over beats which is kind of different in this day and age. Her music is heavily lyrical as well and she wants people to go back and listen to it again like: “did she just say…???”
YSN Fab
Hailing from the Winter City of Winnipeg, Canada, YSN Fab is a rising artist proudly putting his city on the map. Although he is fairly new to his craft, YSN Fab has bloomed into a world-class songwriter that has taken the music industry by storm gaining fans worldwide. Fab’s musical talent speaks for itself, but it is his ability to take his fans on a deep & personal journey that has separated him into a class of his own.
After releasing singles throughout 2019, Fab really started to catch a buzz with his first full length album Made 4 More in January 2020;a 12 song project which goes into the depths of his personal story. This album immediately connected and Fab’s social media following started to grow exponentially. After releasing multiple videos & repackaging the album as a Deluxe project with 7 new songs, Fab finished 2020 by releasing his second full length Winnipeg’s Anomaly further gaining traction across all platforms, reaching over 100k subscribers on YouTube. After a string of singles in 2021, Fab released the sequel to his first full length Made 4 More 2 to much critical acclaim with his first US feature Luh Kel. Fab spent 2022 growing his team in anticipation of his Thru The Thunder project due in early 2023.
With a catalogue that has gained over 70 million streams across all platforms & over 20 million views on YouTube in 3 short years, Fab has carved out his own space in the industry and is proving to be the next international export out of Canada and truly putting Winter City on the map.
TRP.P
TRP.P (pronounced “TRIP-ee”) is an R&B/Hip-Hop duo hailing from Toronto, Canada. The duo consists of Truss (music producer on television show Sort Of) and Phoenix Pagliacci (featured artist on rapper Shad’s album TAO). After meeting at a concert in 2015, the two became fans of each other, and have been collaborating in music and life ever since.
Their collective sound was introduced to the world in 2017 with the release of their self-titled EP, TRP.P. Since then, their unique voices and clever lyricism have continued to add a modern twist to their 80’s/90’s inspired repertoire.
In 2019, TRP.P released their first full-length album 2TRP.P, which garnered press from outlets which include Fader, Earmilk, Exclaim! Magazine and NOW Toronto. The album also caught the attention of Canadian booking agency Paquin, whose roster boasts heavyweights Buffy Sainte-Marie, BADBADNOTGOOD, The Reklaws and The Strumbellas. TRP.P’s captivating and playful energy on stage has taken them across the country, performing at festivals such as Toronto Pride, POP! Montreal, Wavelength, and Hillside. They also opened for Kehlani, Mumu Fresh and Charlotte Cardin early in their career.
The duo is heavily inspired by Black singer/songwriters, both old and new, including favourites Stevie Wonder, Chaka Khan, Lauryn Hill, Jazmine Sullivan, Ari Lennox and NAO. Whether in the studio or on the stage, TRP.P is determined to connect with others through their songwriting;TRP.P gains inspiration from the world around them, writing music based on their hopes, their dreams and their personal experiences.
Fresh off of their Western Canada tour, where they opened for Juno-award winning rapper Shad, TRP.P released their second full-length album entitled “Mirror Soul” in June 2022.
Romeyo Wilson
Romeyo Wilson made his introduction into the industry in 2007, which produced an immense reaction to a now ever-growing fan base throughout Brampton, ON. Fast Forward 2016, Wilson released 8 music videos in that year alone, which led to the very much anticipated release of his first EP, 7/30 and eventually his first album Angela Vibes and sold out shows across the GTA including Lee’s Palace and The Phoenix. With a multitude of playlists compiled with hits Including his biggest singles Why Lie, Flowers, Send Nudes and Dont Waste My Time. He has since collaborated with some of the most popular artist in the music industry from B5, Sammie and Jacquees and caught the attention of Eric Bellinger and Rotimi.
Freddy Printz
FREDDY (Further Reiterating Everyday Difficulties of Dilated Youth) is an acronym that fell into place when expressing what ideology and approaches I would like to take within the arts and cultural sector. I began writing music in 2010 and continued to dive into some of the origins of Hip Hop and R&B, finding great context for some of my own influences. Time spent learning song structure and the inner workings of a studio would allow me to release my first body of work in September of 2013, aptly titled “The Cold Capitvl Project”.
Eazy Finesse
Eden Yohannes, professionally known as Eazy Finesse, is a multi-talented music artist coming out of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada. Eden has been professionally making music since 2018 as 1 of the 4 members of a girl group (that no longer exists). Her first release as a solo artist came in summer of 2019. As she dove deeper into her creative process, Eazy decided to branch off into a career as a solo artist and has never looked back.
Born in Ottawa, Eazy merges influences from Hip-hop, Soul/R&B and her cultural background to bring a vibe through her music. From inspirations such as Jazmine Sullivan to MoneyBagg Yo, the versatility speaks through her music! She started creating music in 2018, but knew her passion long before, back in 2012, when she started writing songs. Her goal is to empower other female artists to believe in themselves and do the things that they love with no doubts, not to let the media influence how they go about their future!
Eazy is currently 22 years old, and with placements on Hot 89.9 and in the Ottawa Citizen Newspaper, has decided that she would pursue her dream of music full-time and has continued to do just that! With songs like Swervin & Better Than being her biggest songs of 2021, she is wasting no time in dropping some new tracks!
LTtheMonk
Originally from London, UK, LTtheMonk first fell in love with hip-hop at just eight years old, when the music captivated his young ears and ignited what would become a lifelong passion. Blended with constant exposure to reggae (via his Jamaican mother) and rock (via his Irish father), LT’s adventurous love of music and performing onstage would only grow stronger.
That eclectic musical upbringing, coupled with discovering the music of Michael Jackson and becoming obsessed with the pop icon’s music and dancing in parallel with his foundational hip hop exposure, set LT off on a journey to becoming a musician himself. It’s also an intrinsic part of LT’s toolkit, with bantamweight Gene Kelly-meets-James Brown footwork and immaculate sport socks both indelible signatures of his persona as an entertainer.
LT has since carved a reputation as a vibrant and compelling talent, moving to Canada in 2017, where he has since been furthering his career in the cities of Hamilton and Toronto. And taking all of his influences, LT aims to fuse dance music with hip-hop and pop, to create his own unique sound, which you can hear in songs such as ‘Class Of ’23’ & ‘The Lo’.
Fame Holiday
Award winning rapper Fame Holiday has been establishing himself in the Canadian music scene since his first talent show at 14. He represents the Other Side of Toronto (O.S.O.T) – a collective that embodies those living outside of the Big Smoke.
Fame often weaves stories and messages from his upbringing into his signature sounding hooks and melodies. He’s been influenced by the sounds he grew up with from musical icons such as 50 Cent, Nipsey Hussle, Big Sean and Chris Brown.
Fame had his breakout year in 2018 when he released his popular single “Saucy” and acclaimed Made For This EP. This kicked off several sold-out performances at iconic venues such as Phoenix Concert Theatre and Lee’s Palace in Toronto, and Theatre Plaza in Montreal.
Fame’s consistency and work ethic over the years has earned him a loyal fan-following that has streamed his music over one million times. This close relationship with his audience caught the attention of multi-platinum artist Rich Homie Quan, who invited Fame to open for his 2019 concert in Toronto.
In 2020 Fame had his first viral moment with the release of “My Thang.” The hit single and video garnered over 500,000 streams on Spotify alone and was featured on Editor playlists such as Hip Hop Central, Northern Bars, Hip Hop Favorites, New In Hip Hop, Fresh Finds Hip Hop and New Music Friday Canada.
2021 continued to be a fruitful year for the budding star. In February, he released the music video for “Take Me Away” in wake of mounting tensions between police and people of color everywhere. Coveted press outlets including Complex Canada, CBC and Toronto Caribbean News prominently featured the charged visual on their platforms. Buzzing radio stations such as G98.7 FM, CBC Music’s The Block and FLOW 93.5 FM also added the anthem to their regular rotation.
In September 2021, “Take Me Away” won the award for Mississauga Music Video of the Year. This victory put Fame onto the radar of MANIFESTO 15, who invited him to perform at their 15th annual concert alongside headliner JID in the heart of Toronto.
Building on these successes, Fame released his third LP ShowTime in November 2021. Less than a year later in September 2022, ShowTime won the Album of the Year award from the City of Mississauga, further solidifying Fame’s place as one of the city’s top musical artists. Only a month earlier in August, Fame released his fourth album Strictly For Summer featuring the fan-hit “Kissing In my Ride.”
Fame’s charisma continues to captivate audiences and his peers alike, such as Davido and DVSN, who invited him to open for their concert at the Budweiser Stage in Toronto in August 2022. He later traveled to New York City to open for A Boogie wit da Hoodie in November 2022.
In addition to supporting buzzworthy artists, Fame partnered with the City of Mississauga to host his first festival, Fame Fest, at the city’s infamous Celebration Square in July 2022. He later took this festival to neighbouring boroughs in Toronto and Brampton, with more dates being confirmed across Canada for 2023.
With no intention of slowing down, Fame Holiday is hard at work on the follow-up to Strictly For Summer with more performances and music releases to come steadily throughout 2023 and beyond.
