PANEL 1 (12:30pm): You’re going to a festival…now what? (Making the most out of your conference)
Attending industry conferences is expensive, daunting and time-consuming. So, how can you make the most of it? Working smart goes beyond just showing up and shaking hands or playing a showcase slot; it requires goal setting, preparation and knowing your options before entering a conference. This session will give you the chance to hear from the very people who can give you the nitty gritty on best practices and how to ensure that each conference you go to becomes a meaningful stepping stone in your career.
PANEL 2 (1:30pm): Export Options for Canadian independent music publishers (you!)
CIMA and Canadian Music Publishers Association have teamed up to de-mystify that tricky area where publishing and export intersect, and opportunities for growth are plentiful. This session will not only cover the basics of publishing they’ll also dig deep into the trends of the sector, international opportunities, relationship building, and models for success. The Canadian Music Publishers Association will also present their most recent export study, “Export Ready, Export Critical: Music Publishing in Canada”
PANEL 3 (2:30pm): Experiences on the Road: A Conversation about export-ready companies & artists, & how to get there
This session seeks to clarify the best practices in identifying artists ready for export and how to effectively benefit from exporting opportunities from management and label perspectives.
Roundtable Discussion (3:45pm):
We hope you've been taking notes all day and jotting down questions, because these intimate roundtable sessions will allow you to dig deeper with each speaker into your specific questions, and allow you to gain perspective on the obstacles and opportunities your peers face.
